there was an npr commentary that i had quoted few months back that talked about “transplant tourism” as an industry and how poor people are getting really hurt in some south indian cities.

there is another article that i came across where there are now talks of “organ commerce” in a global setting and it looks like it might become a whole new industry. here is a link from dvorak. read through the comments too.

there are at least couple of options discussed and compared. i am sure they would have discussed many other options / theories in the meeting. i think they would eventually create a complicated system where there would be”big corporations” ready to make millions of dollars and the poor guy actually donating the kidney will still still get screwed.
